Sergey Perestoronin, the Minister of Industry and Science of the Sverdlovsk Region, set a task for the Ural union of timber manufacturer to increase timber manufacturing volumes and boost the development of local woodworking companies.
«Our timber sector has a potential to give significant profit to the Sverdlovsk region. The annual permitted timber consumption volume accounts for 24 million cubic meters in the region, while in 2016, we used 6.5 million cubic meters which is 27% of the capacity. It is obvious that the Sverdlovsk region possesses enough timber resources to efficiently increase the production volume and develop woodworking businesses. Evgeniy Kuyvashev, the Governor of the Sverdlovsk region, supports a number of government support measures which shall help the timber industry grow», said Mr. Perestoronin.
He also underlined that in 2017 it is planned to involve all the investment potential to support the timber industry development and particular attention will be paid to projects covering the entire woodworking chain and designed to manufacture high value added products.
Over 50 organizations provide support to industrial enterprises in the Sverdlovsk region. In 2016, the timber processing sector produced goods worth 19.5 billion rubles, which is 1.7% of all produced goods in industries supervised by the Ministry of Industry and Science of the Sverdlovsk region.
